MLB Game Summary - Philadelphia at Tampa Bay

Final Score: Tampa Bay 3, Philadelphia 2

Port Charlotte, FL (Sports Network) - James Shields hurled four innings of one-hit, shutout ball and the Tampa Bay Rays slipped by the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2, in a spring training tilt.

Gabe Kapler went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in the sixth inning, and Evan Longoria added an RBI for the Rays.

Jamie Moyer tossed five innings, allowing a pair of runs on six hits to take the loss for the Phillies. Andy Tracy hit a two-out solo blast in the ninth to make things interesting for Philly, but Joe Nelson finished off the save for Tampa.

Recap: Philadelphia vs. Tampa Bay

Ryan Howard belted a two-run homer in Philadelphia's five-run first, as the Phillies upended World Series foe Tampa Bay, 12-5, in Grapefruit League play.

John Mayberry, Miguel Cairo and Ronny Paulino slugged solo homers for the Phillies, who defeated the Rays in the Fall Classic last October for the franchise's first title since 1980.


Kyle Kendrick yielded a run on four hits in 2 2/3 innings on the mound to earn Philly's first win this spring after three setbacks.

Mitch Talbot was touched for five runs on six hits in three innings of work for Tampa, which received a home run apiece from Ray Sadler and Elliot Johnson.

Elliot Johnson launched a two-run shot and Ray Olmedo went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Rays. Pat Burrell, in his first game against his old club, was 1-for-2.
